The Poet Listens

Morning all!
The weekend, I trust, is treating you all well and that you’re relaxed and prepared to face the week ahead.
Today’s quote resonated very much with me and as such I wanted to share it with you all-
“All poetry has to do is to make a strong communication. All the poet has to do is listen. The poet is not an important fellow. There will also be another poet.”
This is very much how I see my poetry- like any art, it’s something you channel from within or from the world around you. My aim is always to listen very carefully to whatever or whoever my muse is for a given piece and present it in as natural, true, and accurate a way as possible.
I’d be interested to hear the thoughts of other writers here, and how readers generally feel about the different approaches that writers take and how that affects their connection to the works.
