Morning all!
Another weekend and another quote for you all to enjoy. Today’s one comes from John Masefield and centres on a subject I’ve spent a lot time discussing in the past; the fact the poetry is not the universally beloved and shared artform that it was before the days of television, the internet, and other such distractions.
I wouldn’t necessarily go so far as John though in his claim that- “Since the printing press came into being, poetry has ceased to be the delight of the whole community of man; it has become the amusement and delight of the few.”
However I do very much agree with his view that the modem world has rather distracted us from this once beloved and treasured artform.
What do you think?
